China Unlikely to Replace U.S. in Pakistan
Dr. Tarique Niazi, sociology, was quoted in the Sept. 1 Voice of America article "China Unlikely to Replace U.S. in Pakistan." Niazi notes that Pakistan, in recent years, has been hotly contested between China and the United States. It possesses the immense wealth of natural resources, especially coal, natural gas and more importantly oil, that attract Chinese business and commercial interests. At the same time, Pakistan has deep economic and political ties with the United States that span more than six decades.
